Hi everyone! As you can see, I am a ladybug and my name is Pik your friendly male ladybug .A male ladybug you may ask? Well yes! Did you know that male ladybugs like me are smaller than those female lady bugs out there? But size does not matter in our kind because if there is an enemy nearing us, we would all be playing dead like most humans do when they are being targeted by a wild bear.

Killing us is not a good thing to do, in fact, most farmers love us! It’s because we eat those aphids (Plant lice) that are amongst the most destructive pest on cultivated plants in those temperate regions! Just imagine a single ladybug like me eating nearly five thousand aphids is like getting rid of your one week office work for free. Additionally we ladybugs chew from side to side unlike humans do. Birds won’t eat us too! It’s because of our natural defense which is a chemical that tastes and smells terrible! (sheesh I wonder what I would taste like? )
